How Can Equipment Dealers Market When Sales Slow Down?

Conceptual image of dealership equipment with coordinated flyers and a campaign checklist.

When equipment buyers hesitate, give them a useful reason to talk to your dealership. A specific parts offer, a service appointment, or a well-explained machine application can start a conversation that a general sale announcement never will.

The latest report checked for this article gives that work some urgency. On August 14, 2026, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers reported that U.S. agricultural tractor unit sales fell 10.9% in July compared with July 2025; combine sales fell 5.3%. These are national equipment sales figures, not a forecast for your dealership or a measure of local service demand. Read AEM’s July report.

What should a dealer promote when buyers hesitate?

Start with your sales and service managers. Which questions keep coming up? What equipment is available? Which service appointments can you actually take? Where do buyers need a demonstration before they can make a decision?

Turn one of those answers into the campaign. A maintenance reminder should lead to a service appointment. A machine demonstration should lead to the right salesperson and location. A used-equipment feature should show current inventory and enough detail to qualify the inquiry.

Do not send every click to your homepage and make the buyer start over. Match the destination to the ad. Give each location a clear contact path, especially when inventory and service availability differ.

What co-op requirements should you check before launch?

Manufacturer support can affect what you make, where you run it, and what paperwork you need. Treat those requirements as part of planning. They should not arrive as a surprise after the invoice.

For each participating brand, build a short working record:

  • The eligible products, locations, media, and campaign dates.
  • The current logo, required language, and offer details supplied by the manufacturer.
  • Any creative pre-approval and the person responsible for getting it.
  • The invoices, screenshots, publication copies, or other proof required for the claim.
  • The claim deadline and the person who will follow up.

Programs differ. Do not assume one manufacturer’s approval covers another, or that last year’s requirements still apply. Our guide to co-op advertising claims explains the workflow. Eligibility and reimbursement still depend on the specific program.

Give every location the same approved campaign

Your lot signs, mailer, web page, and paid ads should agree on the offer. Keep a master version with the approved dates and language. Then adapt the location details without rebuilding the campaign from scratch.

That is part of Weber’s published work with equipment dealers, including its long-running relationship with Hoober. The work spans signage, sale materials, websites, media, and co-op administration. It takes a team that can keep the brand consistent while dealing with the details at each location.

Weber designs and prints sale flyers and signs in-house. Our media buying team can also handle placement, reconciliation, and the claim paperwork. The person making the ad can talk to the person responsible for getting it out.

Count qualified inquiries by offer and location

Agree on what a useful response looks like before launch. A booked service visit, a request for a machine demonstration, and an equipment quote are different outcomes. Count them separately.

Record which campaign produced the inquiry where that information is available. Ask the sales team whether the calls matched the inventory and territory. A busy phone is helpful only if the right people are calling.

If your team spends more time chasing art and paperwork than working with customers, talk with Weber about your dealership marketing. Bring the locations, manufacturers, and next campaign date. We will help turn them into a program that keeps moving.
